CHILD YOUTH & FAMILY

WHEN FAMILIES SPLIT UP

This is a workshop for parents to focus on the feelings and impact that the family separation & divorce has had on their children. Ways of helping children to handle the issues will be presented, and there will be time for discussion.

YOUNG MOTHERS GROUP

This is a support group and parenting program for young mothers between the ages of 15 and 25 years. Child care is provided. Bookings and referrals essential.

MOONGALA: Post-Natal Depression Support Group

This group meets weekly for socialization and support with other mothers. Newcomers are always welcome. A leader from BBCHS introduces occasional special topics , and there is plenty of time for discussion and support about your particular concerns.

POST-NATAL DEPRESSION (PND) GROUP

This is an six week course for mothers experiencing post-natal depression. It includes sessions on understanding and managing PND, parenting expectations, assertiveness, developing a helpful thinking style and strategies for lifting mood.

MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH

Free consultations include advice on normal development in children aged 0-5 years; nutrition, lactation, immunisation and family/maternal health. Referrals can be made if necessary.

YOUTH HEALTH CLINIC

Available for a range of health and sexual issues including: contraception advice and pregnancy testing; pap smears and STI screening, relationships, dietary advice, body image and self esteem.

CHILDREN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY MOTOR SKILLS GROUP

This is for lower primary school aged children without a diagnosis who are experiencing writing or clumsy difficulties at school. Courses are during term after school. Liaison with the class teacher is preferred to assist the child within the school program.
