Service Description
The Dental Service provides all aspects of general dental care:
Examination / check ups
Oral hygiene instruction
Fillings
Extractions
Scaling and Cleaning
X-rays
Root Canal Treatment (limited)
Referral for specialist services
Dentures
Eligibility:
Adults
Adults need to have a current Health Care Card or Pension Card. Fees and waiting times apply (see below).
Children
Children in grades prep to year 8 are referred to the School Dental Service. Eligible youths in Year 9-12 can receive care without the need to be placed on the waiting list. Eligibility for care must be demonstrated by presenting a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card, Commonwealth Youth Allowance or completed form from secondary school confirming Education maintenance Allowance status. Eligible persons who have left school and are aged 14,15,16 and 17 are also entitled to participate.
General Treatment (Adults)
Waiting lists apply for adult general dental care and dentures. The waiting time is approximately 1 year for general treatment, but may vary. To have your name included on our waiting list for general treatment, contact our dental clinic to complete a registration form. When your name comes to the top of the waiting list you will be contacted by letter and asked to make an appointment.
Once an appointment is made, 24 hours notice is required if you need to cancel your appointment. If 24 hours notice is not received a cancellation fee of $10.00 will apply for each half hour appointment.
Emergencies
In emergencies and for the relief of pain, contact our clinic on 9575 5366 as early as 8:00am, Monday to Friday
Fees
Government policy requires us to collect fees from you.
The charge for dental services depends on the type and amount of treatment needed, and will range from a minimum payment of $21.00 to a maximum of $84.00. An additional cost may be required for any denture or specialist treatment provided. For emergency treatment, there is a flat fee of $21.00.
