DIETETICS AND NUTRITION SERVICES
Specialists in promoting healthy lifestyles and illness management through food and nutrition.
Dietitians provide:
- Individual counseling and group programs
- Preventative health programs and nutrition education
- Policy and service development
Organizations we work with in the community include:
schools, local medical practices, local government departments, health and welfare agencies, voluntary organizations and self help groups.
ELIGIBILITY
FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATIONS AND SOME GROUP PROGRAMS:
Referrals are not required but permission is required to speak with your local doctor or other relevant health practitioners.
Clients must live within the service boundary of the Centre.
Individual counseling and single talks to groups are encouraged to utilize the private dietitians in the area as there is a waiting list for these activities. Many private health funds will give rebates for Dietetic consultations.
Some clients will be referred to specialist services if the expertise is not current at the Centre.
HEALTH PROMOTION AND CONSULTANCY:
Organizations seeking health promotion or consultancy services must be operating within the Centre service area or provide services to clients in the service area.
FEES
Full cost fees are applicable to TAC managed clients, Work cover clients and Department of Veteran’s Affairs card holders and these clients will be encouraged to utilize the private practice dietitians in the area.
Low income people and Health card holders are charged a discounted rate. Clients should discuss fees when making an appointment.
