Service Description

Physiotherapists are health care professionals who assess, diagnose and treat disorders of human movement with special emphasis on the musculoskeletal system, including the spine. They are actively involved in injury prevention and health promotion.

  • The physiotherapist can relieve pain and improve joint mobility.

  • The physiotherapist retrains or teaches new skills to people whose ability to move has been limited.

Conditions Treated

  • Musculoskeletal eg. Back, neck, hip, knee, shoulder problems.

  • Neurological eg. Stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and others.

  • Cardio-thoracic eg. Respiratory disorders (asthma, COAD).

  • Mobility Problems eg. Risk of falling, balance problems, assessment for walking aids.

  • Surgical Patients after hospital discharge eg. Joint replacements

All above conditions can be treated individually or in a group setting as deemed appropriate by the physiotherapist.

Mobility / Falls prevention group - 10 week course
Cardiac Rehabilitation - 8 week course
Strength Training - 12 week course

Eligibility

Referrals from a medical practitioner, hospital or allied health professional is necessary for clients to receive physiotherapy services.

Incoming referrals are checked for:

  • Residency in our catchment area. If a client is not in our area, the referral is forwarded to the appropriate organization.

  • Health Care Card holders, low income earners and those DVA clients who are unable to access appropriate private treatment.

Fees

Individual treatment $8.50 per session for health care card holders

Hours

Opening hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
