SERVICE DESCRIPTION
Volunteers are a very important part of the services provided by Bentleigh Bayside Community Health Service. Volunteers work along side paid staff to enhance the services that we provide to the community.
Who Volunteers?
- Retired workers
- People who wish to participate in the community
- People with time to spare and who are looking for worthwhile and satisfying activities
- Tertiary Students wanting experience
Time Required
Some people contribute an hour a week, other much more. It’s negotiable! All efforts are appreciated and values by staff and clients.
Locations
Our volunteer coordinators are located at our Bentleigh Site, but our volunteers may work at our Sandringham site or at some of our outreach services in Beaumaris and Hampton.
Volunteer Positions
- Bus Driver
- Bus jockey
- Aquatic Physiotherapy (Hydrotherapy) assistant
- Clerical Assistant
- Day Centre Assistant
- Strength Training and Mobility Group assistant
Training
Training consists of:- Orientation
- General training
- Specific and on the job training
- Ongoing support
