1. CONFIDENTIALITY
Do not discuss the client or any confidential matters pertaining to the Centre, with family, friends, neighbours or other clients.
If needing to discuss a particular client with another worker, either volunteer or staff,
be very careful not to be overheard by other people in the Centre.
Do not discuss your own medical or personal problems with clients.
Refer back to the Centre if in any doubt.
2. KNOW THE TASK
Only do the tasks requested and of which the Centre is aware. Insurance is unable to cover tasks not officially recorded as being done. The Centre cannot be responsible for tasks such as shopping for a client on the way home, if it is not officially recorded.
3. RESPONSIBILITY
To bring back any problems or concerns to the Centre.
To be punctual and to let the Centre know if unable to meet a commitment.
To yourself, to be able to express dissatisfactions in order for them to be addressed.
4. TOLERANCE / NON JUDGEMENTAL
Acceptance of people who may be different, with varying views, habits, cultural customs and abilities.
5. BEING ABLE TO SAY NO
Know your own limits and decline requests to do tasks if they are not suitable or convenient. Say “no” comfortably and without guilt.
6. BE A GOOD LISTENER
Be attentive and aware.
Give information where necessary but be careful giving advice.
7. INSURANCE
Read and understand the Insurance cover by the Centre.
