Personal Accident and Sickness

  • Everyone is covered by Medicare.
  • Everyone is covered by T.A.C. (Transport Accident Commission).
  • Many people have their own additional private cover and/or pension benefits.
  • In addition, BBCH has personal Accident Insurance for all registered volunteers who are over the age of 15 years, and under 80 years of age.

The compensation provided shall be payable when a volunteer worker sustains bodily injury whilst engaged in programs, projects or duties associated with the operations of, and officially organised and requested by the Health Centre, including direct travel.

The Centre’s Accident Insurance policy does not cover anybody 80 years or over should they injure themselves and does not cover any pre-existing medical conditions.

Public Liability

Covers the Centre’s liability to the general public for bodily injury and/or property damage as the result of a negligent act by a volunteer worker. This policy covers situations occurring in a client’s home as well as other venues. The Insurance policy only covers work carried out by volunteers at the request of the Centre.

Motor Accidents - Damage to Vehicles

  • All Centre vehicles are comprehensively insured for damage to the vehicles as well as third parties.
  • The Centre has additional cover for privately insured vehicles owned and driven by volunteers in the course of their volunteer duties.
